Hi, I'm Mandy Jane, the heart behind Light After Loss and the voice of Brooke's Battle, a platform dedicated to sharing the journey of love, loss, and healing. My life was forever changed when I lost my daughter, Brooke, to Familial HLH at 13 months old. When Brooke passed, I felt like I was left in the dark, searching for someone who truly understood the depth of my pain. I longed for someone who had walked this path and could help guide me through it-but I couldn't find that support.

That is why I created Life After Loss: to fill the void I once faced. This space is for grieving families who are navigating the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one. Here, you'll find compassionate guidance, resources for healing, and the chance to connect with someone who has not only experienced loss but found a way to move forward with love, purpose, and hope.
Through this site and my instagram community, @brookesbattle_hlh, I share heartfelt reflections, spiritual insights, and resources for healing. My goal is to remind families that while the journey is heavy, they are not alone-and there is light ahead.

Brooke Linn Neitzel
Brooke Linn Neitzel, our little lady, gained her angel wings on February 23rd, 2023. Brooke lived an incredible 13 months on earth. Brooke, Brooke’s Battle, captivated the hearts of many as she fought her battle against Familial HLH. Brooke was diagnosed with HLH at 4 months old and had so many ups and downs for 9 months but ultimately made it to her transplant in December 2022. Brooke beat HLH but the post-transplant complications ultimately caused her to pass. Brooke will be forever known for her chunky cheeks, contagious smile, and heart full of love. Her short life on earth has left a mark on so many people and brought so many people closer to love and faith.
